Bundaberg West's transition program is highly regarded across Bundaberg and is a reason the school was identified as a spotlight school for excellence in the early years.
The program commences every Friday (9:30am-11:00am) in Term 4.
There are weekly sessions where parents accompany children to become familiar and confident in the new "big school" environment.
Importantly, both the children and parents begin to make connections with the teachers and other families who will be attending prep next year also.
Being familiar helps reduce the anxiety that children and parents feel when a significant change is to occur.
The transition program concludes with the final session commencing earlier at 9:00am - 11:00am. During this time parents accompany the principal to the library for an information session.
We recommend children participate in all sessions for a smooth transition into prep.
